Juggling Breakthrough

I think I've had a juggling breakthrough. At least for one night anyway. I actually saw an improvement last night. Problem is, I get so excited, or realize I'm not breathing then lose my concentration and drop a ball. Then the next bout is total crap. How the heck do people multi-task while doing this!?

The Book of Love

Here's a great monologue by Keith Olbermann on the recent overturn on gay marriage. It's nearly perfect:

Christmas Baking

Every year I dig out some recipes to do some Christmas baking, mostly for Jeff's benefit. Ok, yeah, sure, I partake in some of the sweetness of it all but I probably wouldn't bother in the first place if he wasn't interested.

This year I explained to Jeff that I was limiting the baking so he could pick three things. he chose:
  • Shortbread
  • Fruitcake
  • Shortbread
If I'm going to go to the trouble then I'm obviously going to do a little something for myself. I chose:
  • Bailey's truffles
  • Eatmore bars
  • Chocolate marshmallow roll
There appears to be an obvious theme with my selection - chocolate. I created a lens to share my Christmas recipes called A Sweet Christmas if you feel inclined to add to your Christmas baking list.

I can so feel myself sitting on the rail, alone, enjoying the breeze, the warm of the sun and the spectacular view. Don't you want to join her on the rail?

At the same time there is something about this image that makes me very sad.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2008

We finally bit the bullet and purchased a vehicle for the first time in over fourteen years. After what seemed like weeks and weeks of research, test drives and negotiations we decided on the Hyundai Santa Fe which was highly rated in Consumer Reports

Even though the 2009s are currently available we went with the 2008. It's still a brand new vehicle. And with 0% financing we couldn't go wrong.

Selected Features:
  • 3.3 L GL
  • 5 speed auto
  • Front wheel drive
  • Air Conditioning (hello we live in humid Eastern Ontario)
  • Captain Chairs
  • Heated Seats (this is a standard and we've used them already!)
  • Bench (for the dog)
  • Steering wheel audio controls and cruise control
  • Airbags (dual, driver and passenger, driver and front passenger, seat-mounted side impact, duo side curtain)
  • ABS
  • 5 year/100,000 km comprehensive limited warranty
  • 5 year/100,000 km power train warranty
  • 3 year/unlimited km roadside assistance program (anywhere in NA)
It has a lot of cargo space, drives quietly and has a little pep when needed. After we picked it up I made Jeff pose for a photo (above) and we went for a 40 minute drive before going out for a celebratory supper at Swiss Chalet (gift certificates). We feel good about the decision. It will be interesting to see what it is like to drive home with in the summer with the husband, dog, cat and luggage all tucked in there.

One headache checked off the list for this year.
