Happy New Year

Jeff and I are going to have a quiet night at home. He had a busy week over Christmas visiting with his parents and extended family back in Thunder Bay and he's still recuperating from school. And to tell the truth, deep down we are both enjoy quiet.

The plan tonight is a perogy dinner (thank you Thunder Bay), salad, fruit and maybe a Persian for dessert (thank you again Thunder Bay - no it's not a person, it's a special bun that isn't a donut and isn't a cinnamon bun with icing on top). Jeff picked up some wieners and Pillsbury crescent roles to make pigs-in-a-blanket for later tonight to eat with the movie. We'll probably buy Hancock with Wil Smith off the satellite.

I'm sure Jeff will be in bed by 12:02. While I'll pop on to see what my twitter friends are doing. I'm so nosey. I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and joyous New Year. See you in 2009!

Tis the Season

I dropped Jeff off at the bus station at 7 a.m. It's so cold, -17C. I fought the urge to whine while we waited for the bus to arrive to take him to the airport. He'll have a two hour ride followed aby a few hours wait at the airport and finally a hour plane ride. His family is very excited. My MIL called yesterday afternoon to thank me yet again for letting him visit.

This will be our first Christmas in 20 years that we haven't spent it together. I was fine until I got up this morning and that thought popped into my mind. I had a wee bit of a teary session in the kitchen but tried to rein it back. I didn't want him to feel guilty. It was afterall my idea that he go spend the holiday with his aging father (who had two heart attacks and a blod clot in the lung in the fall) as it could very well be their last Christmas.

We are in a "winter storm watch" so I decided to do a few errands so I would't have to worry about going out next week. We've already had a bit of snow and I wanted to be prepared. I was amazed that every where I went people were in such a good mood. I haven't received so many thank you's' or had so many people clear the way for me to go first all in one day. I guess it really is the season.

Season's greetings to all of you and your families.

Belated B-Day Gift

A belated birthday gift arrived today from my BIL/SIL and kids. There was a cool choker from global experience, a dead fred pen holder, ice cube stir sticks and this incredibly blue sparkly ball that is sure to provide me with hours of entertainment (seriously, blue and sparkly are too of my favorite things). Here's a look quick look at the ball:

The Wonder of Brad Pitt

Is it me or does Brad Pitt get better looking with the passing of each year? Here's a preview of his latest movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which is due to release December 25th:

Every year, since we moved to Eastern Ontario, we go to the movies on Christmas Day. I think this will be my choice for this year.
