Happy Anniversary to Me

Jeff and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary yesterday. This is how you know you have been together a long time:

Some time during the night while we were scrabbling for control of the sheets we said "Happy Anniversary". He spent the day working on a shelf for the living room above the tv. I designed it specifically to hold flowers (we get them all the time for whatever occasion from his family) because we have no vacant horizontal surface for them other than on the counter or stove in the kitchen; which not only looks bad, but is annoying to have to keep moving around. I wanted a spot where I could actually enjoy them.

After that he ended up taking a bunch of cedar waste the neighbour chopped down to the waste dump -- he's such a good neighbour. I worked on a few articles, rested my eyes, did the grocery shopping, fed the critters and did some laundry.

We had supper at the Keg in Trenton which is about a 30 minute drive from here, just to be different. I had Shrimp Linguini Alfredo and he had Basalmic Chicken, we drank alcohol free ice tea and shared a ceasar salad. The meals were really good and we would probably have them again.

Then the piece de resistance for the day... we went window shopping for a new vehicle while we digested our food. So go ahead! Live vicariously through us.

I've Got My 'Eye' on You

It's been so long since I've been here. In June I took the plunge and had Lasik eye surgery. What an event that has turned out to be. It's been so hard not spending as much time on the computer. I think I'm more neurotic than I was before!

While the actually surgery is basically pain-free (they numb the eye) I've had a very uncomfortable recovery. But I guess that is the key word "recovery". It doesn't happen over night. I'm told it will be 3 - 6 months before I feel/see normal again.

Don't get me wrong, I can see spectacularly compared to pre-surgery but the perfectionism of it varies from day to day. And it's really weird walking around every day with the feeling like I went on a bender and fell asleep with my contact lenses in.

If you have poor vision I definitely recommend researching and talking to lots of people who have had.

Favorite Authors

One of my favorite authors is Janet Fitch. You might not recognize the author's but you might recognize one of her books (also one of my favorite books), White Oleander.

The book was made into a movie starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Renée Zellweger, Robin Wright Penn, and Alison Lohman. Like most books made into movies it was a fizzle.

Guess who contacted me through Myspace yesterday? Well, that's not too hard to guess. I am now friended, as friended as you can be on Myspace, by Janet Fitch. So if you love her writing but didn't know she was on Myspace, here's her official Janet Fitch Myspace, highlighting her latest book Paint it Black.

Where Have I Been

I haven't posted anything since June 21 because I've been a little preoccupied with my vision. On the 26th of June I took the plunge and went for laser eye surgery. After the surgery I was under intense recovery with my nurse. You know him as Jeff (he's been a good nurse... I am blessed, don't know why but I'm blessed).

I'm slowly getting back into the computer game but my I often need breaks. I'm still only getting about 2 hours a day. Down from my usual 10.

Of course, I've made a Squidoo lens about my surgery and recovery. Take a look at my TLC experience to learn more about the surgery, how my recovery has been going etc. As I mentioned, I don't have much time on the computer-o so it is not completely updated but will give you an idea of what I have been going through.

I'll end by telling you that my vision is so good I can see Keris in the UK. I can see her, haven't heard from her... but I can see her.
