Following Your Dreams

"Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead." ~ Louisa May Alcott
Have a great weekend everyone!

Let the Gardening Begin

The beds are pretty much set, the yard is almost raked. I still have to do a bit of weeding and reshaping of the beds but everything looks clean. Today, Jeff and I are going shopping! Yes, I'm more thrilled than he is. He's my second opinion and my grunt.

We're going to Connon to get a bush to replace the spot where I dug out the euonymus last fall. It caught some kind of euonymus disease and dropped it's leaves (after ten years) and had to go. Ever since the dog has taken it upon herself to dig to Mongolia every chance she gets. A few weeks ago Jeff had to put a little fence up to keep her out. Now she just lies next to it looking longingly.

While I'm out I'm hoping to get some herbs for my first herb garden, a rose retainer, a vine holder and maybe a lawn ornament to replace the one I left out side over winter that disintegrated (bad me). In reality, since I'm taking my "second opinion" I'll probably only end up with the bush.

Spring is under way, and I'm officially gardening... the good stuff anyway. At least for another month until the humidity skyrockets and I end up hibernating again.

My Beauty Bag

Christina Jones over at eBeauty Daily is having a cool contest to win a new beauty book by Harper Collins (Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority) in addition to a beauty bag stocked with Sephora products.

The catch? You have to show Christina what's in your beauty bag. It's a good thing mine was cleaned out recently. So here's a shot of my bag Christina!

Click on image for larger picture. So what you see here are my Yonka cleansing/moisturing necessities, floss, Crest (there can be only one!), concealer, Loreal Infaluable, CG True Match, eyebrow brush, DuWop Lip Venom, Dove silky antiperspirant, contact solution, Clinique Happy, mini Listerine, puffs, q-tips and witch hazel. I also forgot my jar of Smitten from Lush.

New Hair Deux

Today, Jeff shaved the hair he's been growing for the last two years during a school assembly. The kids purchased tickets to do the dirty deed. They were quite gung ho about it. He said he'd shave the moustache if they raised $1000. They raised $1300 so the moustache went bye-bye. I'm just glad to have the air gone. I'm so not into the Fabio look. I just finished cleaning up their handy work. I'll post some footage when I figure out how. I'll need the tech boy to get them off the camera first.

When I left the school I got the urge to get my hairs cut too. Actually, I've been thinking about it for a while but haven't had the time. So I went over to First Choice because I had to got to Future Shop to get the Firefly series (Serenity ROCK! Browncoat forever!). Here are the results. It still needs some work. I haven't had bangs in a long time so I'll have to retrain the natural part away. This is my good side:

I want to keep growing it out but eventually get deeper points in the front and into a "v" in the back. (I tried to adjust the color of these pictures because the wall behind me is taupe, not green but it had no effect other than making less lime looking.)

Two Curvy Chics

I added two curvy chics to my lens repertoire:

* Chloe Marshall - Miss Surrey

* America Ferrera - Ugly Betty

I know, I need to go to Squidoo Anonymous!

Pop by and show me some luvin'.

Egg Fight

Every Easter weekend Jeff boils eggs with onion skins:

To get them a pretty brown colour:

The next day we choose our weapons:

And declare war:

Jeff won this year. But he cheated...

This is followed by egg salad sandwiches for lunch.

My recipe:

4 hard boiled eggs mashed with pastry utensil
2 tbsp mayonaise
1 green onion
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp garlic powder

Mix well, spread into two sandwiches. Eat.

This is a Ukrainian tradition passed down from his Gramma. His father grew up doing this and Jeff grew up doing this. And now Jeff and I do it.

My Easter tradition? Chocolate, silly.
